Drew's misfire had unknown effects to a certain satyr and wood nymph couple who'd been...well, you know... out in the woods. The leaden arrow hit Juniper in the back. The wood nymph shook her head, blinking in confusion.
"You alright?" Grover asked her, tucking a strand of greenish hair behind her ear. For a second she only stared at him, then she got up, looking rather disgusted.
"I don't know what I'm doing here..." she said uneasily, "Um, I've gotta go..." she moved away quickly. Grover stared at her retreating back in shock. What had just happened?
Leo had never realized how attractive Piper was. The way she glared at him when he started to stare, wow. She was almost as intimidating as Thalia when she'd threatened to tie him in a knot for interrupting her conversation with Jason earlier. And speaking of Jason, he'd probably get a shiny golden sword through his head if he ever tried to make a move on Piper with that guy around. Just the kind of unattainable girl he always went for. He wondered why it had never occurred to him before.
A rustling in the underbrush of the forest broke him from his stupor. He jumped back, reaching into his tool belt, which gave him a helpful tin of mints. He'd never thought tool belts could have a sense of humor, but this one apparently found it funny to give him breath mints when he was in danger. Shoving the mints back into his pocket, he pulled out a hammer just as a satyr burst from the brush. "Annabeth!" the satyr wailed, then jumped backwards before he got brained by Leo's hammer.
"Hey, man, what's wrong with you?" Leo asked, trying not to smirk as the satyr tried to get to his feet too quickly and fell on his shaggy rump.
The satyr bleated at him irritably, "Well, there's a demigod brandishing a hammer at me, for starters!"
Leo blushed a little, "Sorry," he said, shoving the hammer back in his belt.
Grover stood up, brushing his hindquarters off and trotting past the demigod. "If you'll excuse me, I need to speak with Annabeth." he said with as much dignity as he could muster. Annabeth was a girl, after all, she would definitely be able to tell him why Juniper had suddenly decided she didn't want anything to do with him.
Leo watched the satyr trot away indignantly, wishing Annabeth luck with whatever that guy's problem was. He had more important things to worry about, though. Piper had said she was going to go try to talk with Jason. That meant it probably wasn't the best time to try and win her heart with his good looks and charm. What was a poor love sick Son of Hephaestus to do, then? He wasn't really sure. No matter what he did, he always ended up thinking about Piper. This was more annoying than all his other crushes combined. It also seemed kinda weird, since he'd never even thought about Piper this way before...
Clarisse was pissed. Chris was completely ignoring her, and following around that new girl, Piper. So were a bunch of other guys. Girls from all over camp were getting shunned by their boyfriends and crushes. It was pretty suspicious, and she was going to get to the bottom of it, especially if it meant punching that pretty little girl's lights out.
She stormed up to the Aphrodite cabin, ready to rip the place apart. When a few girls realized what she was up to, they joined her, eager to get their own share of revenge. Unfortunately, here was only one girl there, that little snotty Asian one that used to be the head counselor. What was her name again?
"Hello, Clarisse," Drew said in her overly sweet voice, "Why are you here?"
"Where's Piper?" she demanded crossly, "I want to know why every guy in camp is following her around!" A couple of the other girls nodded in agreement.
"I don't know where she is." Drew admitted, "Although," she leaned forward, getting on her tiptoes so she could whisper in Clarisse's ear, "I know what she's doing," Drew said loud enough for everyone to hear, "She's got them under a spell, you know. She's enchanting every guy in camp. What a little witch, huh?"
Clarisse's eyes could've burned though steel. How dare that Aphrodite chick enchant her boyfriend? Oh, she was going to pay. The conch horn blew, and Clarisse grinned. It was a good thing she hadn't allied herself with Athena and Aphrodite. She was going to get revenge tonight.
